In excess of 36,000 people have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan area eastern sector of Darfur beginning Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration agency.

The strategic central area connecting the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine area has during recent weeks become the latest battleground in the extended civil war between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group.

Significant Displacement Statistics

An approximated 36,825 people evacuated from five localities in North Kordofan province between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, most on foot, traveled to Tawila, a town western side of El Fasher that is currently sheltering over 652,000 evacuated individuals.

Heightened Military Presence

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday noted a heavy surge in both RSF and army presence across communities throughout the state.

Both forces are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a critical supply and command hub that links Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently distributed video declaration.

Regional Citizens Report Security Concerns

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the number of RSF vehicles had increased considerably since the group's takeover of El Fasher.

"We stopped going to our farms, fearing clashes," the resident explained.

Another resident, who sought confidentiality for safety concerns, also confirmed that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the past two weeks.

World Warnings and Requests

A senior UN official raised the alarm last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnically motivated reprisals" by RSF in Bara.

The diplomat warned of patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF militants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against non-Arab ethnic groups.

The spiritual head on Sunday appealed for an quick cessation of hostilities and the establishment of relief routes in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's diplomatic representative to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of committing war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not discuss with the militia organization.

The ambassador further urged the international community to classify the group as a terrorist group.
