Beloved Actor The actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular television series like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California recently after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to reports.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives shared in a message.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several well-known programs, like:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.
Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
