Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The single blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
