Ex- BBC Specialists Participate in Members of Parliament's Grilling After Allegations of Bias in Disclosed Memo
We open with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, that chairs the group.
She initiates by providing context to the unauthorized memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.
"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting toward one side or the other, I simply desire it balanced, impartial and fair," he declares.
In response to a query if he considers the BBC is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "No, I do not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the BBC creates is exceptional - encompassing informative and entertainment programming."
But he adds: "There exists real work that requires attention at the BBC."
The second ex-adviser BBC adviser questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the BBC with great importance and that it maintains a "continuous process and active debate" regarding fluid and multifaceted issues.
"Did the BBC prepared to have a genuine discussion and debate and take action?" she questions. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
