Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
