Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains a possibility. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell that included Champions League success and ending the club's long wait since 1990, currently occupies roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would embrace the notion that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I won't manage a different club on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding which situations must arise to bring him back to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip interviews repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats weekly.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter in my ear for example.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes that took the title last term. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the notion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern over the club, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward was killed in a road accident with his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace a person like him? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates also. No one within the club might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
