The athlete won 20 caps for the All Blacks before transferring loyalty to the Samoan team.

Rugby league's administration has declared that participants who sign with the “counterfeit” R360 league will be banned for a decade.

The new league, set to start in 2026, is aiming to attract rugby union and rugby league players with substantial agreements and a reduced playing schedule.

Prominent rugby league athletes have reportedly been approached by the new league, which will feature multiple men's clubs and women's teams located in key urban centers around the world.

Representing Samoa the rugby star, who represents his NRL club in the NRL, has confirmed he has had talks with the breakaway league.

Ryan Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Haas and Gray are also said to be thinking about signing the rebel league.

Several leading union countries, such as Australia, earlier imposed a prohibition on athletes signing with R360 participating in global fixtures.

“We heard our clubs and we've taken firm action,” said the league's chief V'Landys.

“Sadly, there will persistently exist organizations that seek to pirate our sport for monetary profit.

“They avoid funding in talent pipelines or the advancement of players. They merely capitalize on the dedication of other organizations, putting players at risk of economic hardship while gaining personally.

“Essentially, they are, copying the game.”

The organization is co-founded by former England World Cup winner Mike Tindall and backed by independent financiers.

Subsequent to the potential rugby union sanctions were revealed earlier, it commented: “We want to work collaboratively as part of the worldwide fixture list.

“The series is designed with tailored timetables for men's and women's teams and R360 will allow all athletes for global fixtures, as included in their agreements.”

R360 will apply for endorsement for its initiatives from the international authority, the sport's governing body, at its board session next year.
