The Grisly Cartoon Film Conclusion That Stays With Fans

Among every mature animated films I have ever viewed, no other has lingered in my mind quite like the dread-soaked finale of the viscerally violent as well as overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker created a dark, bleak and often savage universe with a few small , forlorn glimmers of optimism.

Although Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from an impulse to expand the medium further, the filmmaker explained that it was rather a try to convey a widespread, cross-cultural theme concerning “the mutual source of all wars.”

That message is communicated through a band of brightly hued teddy bears , obviously based on a famous series of lovable figures.

Growing up in a community built around militarism as well as the military-industrial complex, a lot of these animals are obsessed with slaughtering the mythical beasts, due to a holy book that tells the bears they used to be masters of the woods, until these creatures forced them out.

A few did not entirely accepted the propaganda, and prefer to experiment with narcotics and engage sexually outdoors.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these colorful critters display genitals and obvious libidos.

For a particular especially vicious, pessimistic creature, the bear named Bluey, the conflict with the unicorns turns into a route toward dominance — and specifically to authority over his softer, kinder brother the character Tubby.

This bear behaves aggressively , an obvious sociopath , and while terror dominates his squad and takes his teammates sequentially, he grabs more and more power on his own behalf, via progressively bloody, destructive ways.

Simultaneously, these mythical beings are suffering their own horror, in the form of a spreading, destructive monster in their woods.

“In the early stages, it appears as a humorous movie,” the director commented. “However it evolves into a more intense and melancholic movie. And ultimately, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars begins resembling one of the more whimsical features from a renowned animator, that discover a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures swear, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.

Then it turns into closer to a bleaker movie by that same creator, with increasingly graphic violence and a noticeable connection to the real tragedy of war.

Ultimately, it’s an outright extreme drama carnage.

The fear which makes this a perfect Halloween movie starts a lot earlier than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the most dedicated fans of gore, for fans of extreme cinema who wish to see something they have not seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a story which delivers unflinching brutality.

Watch it in a dark room free from interruptions, and the finale will crawl deep within you and linger.
