Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident in Providence were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies online, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our city”.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Officers that raided the lodging seized a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one student was allowed to go home, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the group. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his potential.”
